Who Qualifies

The Ontario Pig Health Check-up will reimburse Ontario licensed, practicing veterinarians for completing animal health consultations with small scale pig owners.

The consultations can be conducted in-person or via telemedicine as prescribed by the College of Veterinarians of Ontario Professional Practice Standard for Telemedicine.

Within the terms of this project, a small-scale pig owner is someone who produces less than 1,000 market hogs a year or owns less than 50 sows or owns pet pigs. Pig herd owners must have or register for a Premises Identification Number (PID) www.ontariopid.com (opens in new tab) or by telephone, at 1-888-2347-4999. There is no cost to register.

Only one check-up and treatment program per pig owner will be reimbursed during the term of this project.
